چکیده

To enhance the modeling power of stochastic Petri nets (SPNs), new steady-state analysis methods have been proposed for nets that include non-exponential transitions. The underlying stochastic process is a Markov regenerative process (MRP) when at most one non-exponential transition is enabled in each marking. Time-e cient algorithms for constructing and solving the MRP have been developed. However, the space required to solve such models is often extremely large. This largeness is due to the large number of transitions in the MRP. Traditional analysis methods require that all these transitions be stored in primary memory for e cient computation. If the size of available memory is smaller than that needed to store these transitions, a time-e cient computation is impossible using these methods. To use this class of SPNs to model realistic systems, the space complexity of MRP analysis algorithms must be reduced. In this paper, we propose a new steady-state analysis method that is both time and space e cient. The new method takes advantage of the structure of the underlying process to reduce both computation time and required memory. The performance of the proposed method is compared to existing methods using several SPN examples.

Formal approach on modeling and predicting of software system security: Stochastic petri net

To evaluate and predict component-based software security, a two-dimensional model of software security is proposed by Stochastic Petri Net in this paper. In this approach, the software security is modeled by graphical presentation ability of Petri nets, and the quantitative prediction is provided by the evaluation capability of Stochastic Petri Net and the computing power of Markov chain. Each...

Efficient Handling of Phase-Type Distributions in Generalized Stochastic Petri Nets

We study the introduction of transitions with Phase-type distribution ring time in (bounded) generalized stochastic Petri nets. Such transitions produce large increases of both space and time complexity for the computation of the steady state probabilities of the underlying Markov chain. We propose a new approach to limit this phenomenon while keeping full stochastic semantics of previous works...

Supplementary Variable Approach Applied to the Transient Analysis of Age-MRSPNs

In order to assist the performance evaluation of complex stochastic models, automatic program tools are developed since a long time. An effective model description language, supported by several software tools, is the stochastic Petri Net (SPN). But the attention to the analytical description and the numerical analysis of non-Markovian stochastic Petri Net models arose only recently. There are ...

Mapping Activity Diagram to Petri Net: Application of Markov Theory for Analyzing Non-Functional Parameters

The quality of an architectural design of a software system has a great influence on achieving non-functional requirements of a system. A regular software development project is often influenced by non-functional factors such as the customers' expectations about the performance and reliability of the software as well as the reduction of underlying risks. The evaluation of non-functional paramet...
